What I’m Currently Watching 2.17 - 3.2

If you want to know about a show or movie I mention more in-depth - drop a comment! I'll respond back or decide it may warrant a full review post if there's enough interest.

So, a little over a week this time but hey - more for you to hear about!

On TV:

I’m still watching Resident Alien on SyFy and still thinking you should watch it too.

The Unicorn - This is one of those shows where you hear about it and aren’t quite sure if you’ll like it or not. However, having watching it from the beginning into its now second season I do enjoy it and plan to keep watching it. It is funny, heart warming, and unique when compared to the other half-hour shows I normally watch. If you like shows like American Housewife then you should give The Unicorn a go.

Netflix:

Night Stalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer:

I watched this right before I went to bed, which was a bad idea. It definitely makes you think about what if this happened today and what kind of people could possibly be out there. But putting my worst-case-scenario-thoughts aside, this documentary flowed a lot better and stayed more on topic than other Netflix crime documentaries I’ve watched. I was confused though that in two other shows I’ve watched from Netflix they mention how he stayed at the Cecil Hotel but then in the documentary about him they never mentioned it. In those other shows they made that sound like such a big deal but then IN the Night Stalker documentary they never mentioned it at all.

72 Dangerous Animals Asia:

As someone who spent the majority of her life thinking she would be working with animals one day and watching enough Animal Planet and Discovery to back that up - I find this show wanting. I feel like they cause more fear about animals than relay facts about which ones can be dangerous and which ones just deserve our respect and space. They do have sections where they mention if you give the animal its space we can coexist just fine but overall I think Netflix just picked the number of 72 and said okay now we gotta find 72 to make this work. They should have picked a lower number. For example, Animal Planet used to have its Top 10 Most Extreme show. That would have been a great model for Netflix to work with. There are also some straight up incorrect historical facts mentioned that I can’t believe no one at Netflix fact-checked before having the narrator say it to be streamed forevermore.

Finding Ohana:

Yes, I did it, I rewatched it and wanted to mention it again. My mom and I agree it’s like The Goonies but with a different treasure and family dynamic. I would highly suggest this movie for your next movie night, especially if you enjoy beautiful scenery and accurate representation.

Hulu:

The X-Files: I think it’s safe to say at this point you guys know I like the science fiction and crime genres. This show has both and as I rewatch it I find myself appreciating how it mixes the two. I like the pacing and how the seasons flow together. I also enjoy that most of the twists and turns are never fully stated but implied or left to stay a mystery. If you’ve ever thought about watching it just to see why people continue to talk about it, consider this your sign to do so.

Prime Video:

My Spy: Another rewatch for this week but I keep hearing that Cardi B song and it reminds of this film so I had to watch it again! I do have a whole review on this blog already for it so I won’t go into too much detail here. But, if you want to laugh and get some action in at the same time, this is the movie for you.

So that’s what I’ve been watching over the past week! (or two) This past week saw more rewatches and continuations of shows currently airing than the previous week did. Netflix has released a lot of new shows and movies lately so I want to dedicate this upcoming week to those.

With that being said, here’s what I would watch if I was you and you are looking for:

Something funny - My Spy

Something lighthearted - The Unicorn

A crime documentary - Night Stalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer

Something for family movie night - Finding Ohana (seriously, just watch it already)

Something with mystery - The X Files

Looking to next week, I know so far that I’ll be watching Ginny & Georgia, The Crew, and Bigfoot Family.
